what i learned from a cauliflower

I bond with veggies a few days a week at a local farm.  This past week I learned something new about cauliflower.

Cauliflower grows with large, thick leaves that cocoon the head.  Protected within the cocoon, the cauliflower grows to maturity.  Once it comes of age the leaves open up and one way or another it goes out into the world.

I’ve been thinking about this process.  The holding on and the letting go.  Being held and being protected.  Mothering is like that.  Creating art is like that.  We struggle with things the cauliflower does effortlessly.  Why is that?
